FAQ
Questions, answered honestly
Including the parts most marketing pages skip: what's real today, and what's still rolling out.
Product & canvas
How is Slicess different from Gamma, Tome, or Canva?
Those tools generate into blocks or templates. You can lightly restyle the output, but the structure is locked. Slicess generates onto a real infinite canvas: every element the AI creates is a free object with layers, exact coordinates, gradients, and full typography. The finished deck is exactly as editable as one you built by hand.
What are smart layouts?
Sixteen role-aware presets across Title, Content, Visual, and Data categories. Every element on a slide has a role (title, stat, chart, decoration), and picking a new layout reflows your content into it without deleting anything. It's a single undo step, so experiments are always reversible.
Can I export my deck?
You can export a PDF at 72, 144, or 300 dpi, with speaker notes optionally included as pages. PowerPoint (.pptx) export is on the roadmap, and we won't pretend it's here before it is.
AI & generation
Can the AI work from my own documents?
Yes. Attach up to 8 files per generation (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, and images). Slicess reads them under a strict source-binding policy: the deck presents facts from your material and doesn't invent its own. PDFs and images are read natively, charts and all.
Which AI models power Slicess?
Anthropic's Claude handles text by default, Google's Gemini powers deck generation and image generation (it reads PDFs and images natively), and OpenAI models are supported too. You can also bring your own key for any of the three.
What counts as an AI action?
Generating slides, rewriting text, generating images, font suggestions, and brand-consistency checks each use one action. The free plan includes 20 a month; paid plans raise that to between 100 and 1,000 depending on tier.
Can I bring my own API key?
Yes. Slicess supports your own Anthropic, Google AI Studio, or OpenAI key. Keys are encrypted at rest, and anything you run on your own key doesn't count against your monthly action limit. The in-app key manager is rolling out now.
Sharing & presenting
How do share links work?
Flip one toggle to get a view-only link, and anyone with it sees the latest version, no account needed. Turn sharing off and back on and the same URL keeps working. Free-plan share pages carry a small “Made with Slicess” badge; paid plans share badge-free.
What's in present mode?
Fullscreen presenting with keyboard navigation, five per-slide transitions, an auto-hiding HUD, and a speaker-notes drawer with an up-next preview of the following slide. Slides render pixel-identical to the editor.
Plans & billing
How does annual billing work?
Pay yearly and the effective price drops up to 33% versus paying month to month ($179/yr for Pro, $349/yr for Plus, $799/yr for Ultra). You can switch periods when you upgrade.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Checkout is handled by a secure payment provider, subscriptions can be cancelled anytime, and if you cancel, your account simply returns to the free plan.
Do my decks survive a downgrade?
Your decks stay in your account. The free plan's limits apply to creating new decks and new AI actions, while sharing and presenting what you've already made keeps working.
Still curious?
The free plan is the fastest answer: three decks, twenty AI actions, no credit card.
